Privacy and Consent Policy

The data collected by this site from registered and non-registered users are in an aggregated and anonymized form which serves 3 main purposes: functional, marketing and analytics and advertising:

  • To monitor the performance of our site and to enhance your browsing experience.

  • (For example, these tools enable you to communicate with us via live chat or email.)

  • To understand user behaviour in order to provide you with a more relevant browsing experience or personalise the content on our site.

  • (For example, we collect information about which pages you visit to help us present more relevant information and publications.)

  • To personalise and measure the effectiveness of advertising on our site and other websites.

  • (For example, we may serve you a personalised ad based upon the pages you visit on our site.)

  • To allow communication between editors, authors, and subscribers about the publication of the material, the editing of material and any other such updates.

  • (For example, we may deliver an email to you regarding a recent Interstate Issue, event or update to policy.)

  • To enable the collection of aggregated data on readership behaviour and the regional location of readers and authors.

  • (For example, we use this information to allow the editorial team to better understand our demographics and better tailor our content to our audience.)

No data collected by the Interstate Journal will be sold onto 3rd parties.

Copyright Policy

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that Interstate Team, the Department of International Politics, and Aberystwyth University comply with the legislation concerning copyright when utilising third party copyright material for teaching and learning, research and for other business relating to the Journal and University.

The Journal and University respect and observe the principle of copyright protection for all works created by third parties and requires all who intend to submit submissions to Interstate to do likewise. Interstate and the University endeavours at all times to comply with UK copyright legislation (the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 and associated regulations) and equivalent legislation in other jurisdictions in which Interstate and the University operate and to adhere to the terms of copyright licences. Infringements of copyright legislation or licences by any individual may result in legal action against the individual or the University. The University regards infringement of copyright as a very serious matter and may take disciplinary action where this occurs.

The Journal, alongside Aberystwyth University, wishes to:

​

  • Create an environment that encourages and promotes the creation and dissemination of inventions, new research and theories.

  • Allow the public recognition of the work of academics and researchers (whether Staff and/or Students or members of the general public).

  • Protect valuable Intellectual Property and to create a competitive advantage in the exploitation of results.

  • Promote the successful exploitation of Intellectual Property.


Information pertaining to authors:

Authors retain copyright over their submitted work and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons licence that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.

​

Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.

​

Authors are required to make sure submitted content does not infringe third-party copyright. Authors must obtain permission to reproduce any third-party material for online – and print, if applicable – publication in perpetuity. It is also the authors’ responsibility to include any acknowledgements requested by copyright holders and to mark clearly third-party material used with permission, material that has separate licensing terms, and material used under exceptions or limitations to copyright.

Publication Frequency & OAP

Interstate intends to publish 3-4 issues per year on a semesterly basis. 

​

The frequency of Long and Short read publications has no set limit, the amount depends solely on the number of submissions which pass the editorial stage.

​

As featured on the Leviathan Journal's website, Interstate follows them with a firm belief in Open Access Policy whereby this journal intends to and will provide immediate open access to its contents on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

​

All articles published between 1965 and 2020 are available under the Creative Commons Licence.

​

Authors are not charged any article processing charges or other publication fees.
